The final 2008 Tour blog.. new pictures and a ton of video including "Freak" taken at the open jam featuring 934034 guests on stage.

August 14th, we played Illusions in Green Bay, WI. Cool little place and nice turn out
We played a few sets.. Including covers such as “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Rebel Yell”.

One of the cool things about being on tour is all of the different types of venues/clubs we get to play. The biggie came August 15th at the Allentown Fireman's Picnic.

Playing alongside Fahrenheit 420 and a huge crowd, this show was the highlight of the tour. In what has become a Wisconsin tradition...  Johnny hopped on stage for “Something in Myself” and Chris joined F420 on stage for “Violet”

On August 22nd and the 23rd we headed to South Barrington, IL to play Penny Road Pub. Last tour Penny Road’s was one of the cooler venues we played at, so we were pretty excited to be heading out there. We had a really good turn out and saw some new and familiar faces...

The final show of the tour was in Allentown, PA at Crocodile Rocks Cafe on August 30th.. It was pretty cool to play on the same stage that bands such as Lifehouse and The Audition played on only a few weeks prior. Great way to end the tour.

So another fun tour…. of course we have to thank the following people for their hospitality and craziness which contributed to making this tour a success:

John our personal sound guy, Scott and Family thanks for the cookout, Kent for letting us crash at his house, Kathy and friends for coming out to all the shows,  JD for making us raging alcoholics and Frizz for surprising the band by coming all the way out to WI and giving us yet another handful of stories to tell everyone.

Heyloooo from the road,

So on Monday August 4th we left New York to visit Ben Schigel at Spider Studios in Ohio. We headed out there to remix a few songs .. One song already appears on the current EP .. the other two are set to debut on the full album later this year.

The tour officially started on Thursday, we had two shows in two different states so  that was an interesting experience. The first show was  in the afternoon at Northwestern University in Illinois and the second show was at Milcreek out in Wisconsin. Both shows went really well and we got a  big surprise from brooklyn’s Famous Frizz. He flew all the way out to Wisconsin to surprise the band.

Friday we played outdoors at Woods Stock III. The Woods is one of our favorite places to play and we got to play alongside some great bands, especially our good friends Fahrenheit 420.  We had a fun time hanging out with some familiar faces as well as meeting a bunch of new people.

Sunday we were back at The Woods but for a open jam.. This was pretty awesome because anyone and everyone could participate.  So throughout the show random people were on stage  and there were mash ups of all different members from bands on stage. Freak  and Angel featured everyone from Johnny, Nick and Chad of F420 … while Something in Myself featured Frizz.

Blog #6… The final tour blog… this time we have some video footage which came out really cool

On November 17th we played the Fahrenheit 420 CD release show at The Woods in Wisconsin. This was the final Mid West show of the tour and probably one of the best shows of the whole tour. It was cool to see a bunch of familiar faces from not just the Green Bay shows, but from the further out Wisconsin shows we played. As per tradition Jon joined the band on stage for the re-titled “Something In Myself” but the real hi-light of the night was when Underwhelmed covered “Violet” by his band Fahrenheit 420.

On November 21st.. after being in the car for 20 hours.. we arrived home and played a welcome back party at Kevin Ryans for Thanksgiving Eve. This was the first time friends/family had seen us in about 5 weeks so it was cool to just hang out and talk about what had gone on since we left.

So back to NYC business… On Friday, November 30th at Arlene’s Grocery (show info).. there will be a open bar and Fahrenheit 420 will be playing their first ever show here in NYC alongside us. Show time is early.. Get there for 6:30.. =]

Blog #5… figure I would squeeze this one in before our next few shows

(Tradition)

On November 8th we played The Woods… Really nice place.. many familiar faces in the crowd and it was one big hang out (as usual).. 3 sets were played.. Mirror In The Face made it into the set as well as covers such as If you Could Only See, Wash It Away and Heavy.
This show was also all about guest performances..Thom jumped up on stage and sang ‘Never Again’ with the band and Chris Amplo and Chris Russo joined Fahrenheit on stage to play ‘Violet’..

On November 9th we played Old Miami in Detroit Michigan.. Called the “CBGB’s” of Detroit.. this place had a cool vibe and included a ton of war veterans memorabilia all around the place.. even a beaver by a couch..

On November 13th and the 14th we headed out to Ohio to Ben Schigel’s studio to fix up some of the tracks for the upcoming LP. A few things we always talked about changing within the current mixes of the songs were fixed and we’re pretty happy with these mixes.. many minimal changes but they def. do make a difference for the listener.
It’s pretty weird when you arrive to the studio and say its good to be home.

Yesterday we were shown what Green Bay was all about by JD… Firstly we had a home cooked meal made by him and Paula . Then we ventured all around Green Bay hitting up different bars.. Some cool places like the Green Bay version of the Salty Dog and also a country bar where Chris Russo limboed.. and failed… miserably =]

Tonight we’re playing the Fahrenheit CD listening party at Doubles and tomorrow we’re playing the CD release party at The Woods… after that its back to Brooklyn on the 21st for a welcome back party/show at Kevin Ryans (show info) and then NYC on the 30th for a show at Arlene’s Grocery with Fahrenheit (show info).

Soooo… Blog #4…… first off important information…

Angel was played on Z100 the other night so we need everyone to either call (1-800-242-0100) or go online here to request ‘Angel’ by Underwhelmed to the station…..

On Halloween we had a very interesting day… Picture us trying to play golf… Yep that’s what we attempted to do. JD from The Woods invited us down to play at his course in Green Bay. Needless to say I thought I was going to be the worse one there… but the rest of the band was just as bad.. if not worse.

At night we headed to Swobey’s in Green Bay and played with Fahrenheit 420. Swobey’s stage was really… really tight, so there was no room for anyone to really move around and get into their groove. The cool thing about playing such a small place though, is no one had a choice but to watch the bands that were playing. We saw some familiar faces from the past Wisconsin shows and met a lot of new ones.

On November 2nd we headed out to Illinois to play Penny Road Pub. On our way we got to pass Wrigley Field, which was really awesome. Penny Roads has two floors for bands. We played the 1st level where all the ‘new’ bands play. It was actually a cool setting with a little stage but had that garage band type of vibe to it. Before the band went on there were maybe 5 people in the room at the end of the set there were 40 people watching.

November 3rd was a big show with F420 at Jugs Hitching Post. There were about 300 people in the crowd and to see a crowd go from looking surprised when the band opened up to Angel to going crazy when ‘Silhouette’ was belted out by Chris… made this one of the best shows so far on this tour. After the set it was just one big hang out.. good times.

Blog #3.. this is a big update… We’ve had 3 days off so I was able to upload over 400+ pictures and have the time to hopefully write something good…

I guess now you can say the tour has officially started

On the 24th, we played The Modern Exchange in Detroit… The place was very different from other places because the front of the place is a vintage clothing/music store but when you walk through the double doors there is this cool little Irving Plaza type venue… The stage, lighting and the vibe was really cool.. The best part of the night was when two kids from the crowd waltzed to “Monster”.. Gotta love ¾ timing in songs ☺

On the 25h we headed over to our new home for about a week.. Green Bay, Wisconsin to play Doubles Bar. This was one of those 3 set cover shows.. It’s amazing when people come up to you and tell you to stop playing the cover songs and play your originals..

Ahh the 26th… The first of three Halloween shows… This show was the best of them all so far.. Over 400+ people in the crowd and our first show playing alongside our tour mates Fahrenheit 420.. There were many… many…. highlights to this night…. One was having Johnny from Fahrenheit 420 come up and sing “Throw It All Away” on stage with the band…

On the 27th we played Route 15 in Appleton.. This was another Halloween show but this place was more of a sports bar/club type of deal.. The setup wasn’t ideal for a band.. we figured the people were there just to eat and watch the game on TV…. Then 3 songs into the set there was a wall of people standing up right in front focused in on the band. Chris sang two songs with Fahrenheit.. their original song “Violet” and they also covered “Mother” by Danzig”..

So… here we are, on our way to Michigan.. in the car with my headphones on listening to the As Tall as Lions album Lafcadio…

The first week of the tour has been pretty cool so far.. We got here on Monday but that was a throwaway day.. Tuesday the band rehearsed for about 5 hours and Wednesday the same thing but we also headed over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.. Seeing as we are poor and have no cash.. we were lucky that bands get into the Hall for free admission..

Thursday we had a show in Columbus… got some family style food at Café Bella.. made some new friends…..

Friday we headed over to Cincinnati to play the Poison Room.. Armstrong and Mike Russo tagged along with me when I went to shoot some photos around the city.. As we were wandering around we ended up at some Cincinnati Bengals party… Of course my radar found the cheerleaders and we ended up hanging out and talking to them for a little while… cool girls.. especially the Eddie Vedder fan… =)

As for the show all the bands playing that night were from out of state.. we were all in the same boat.. no one really knew any of us (fan wise) … the place was awesome.. the sound was great.. and the whole staff (Mike, Kris and Mark) were fun times to hang out with.. (thanks for the free rounds of beer and shots)..
right after the show it was a 4 hour drive off to Illinois.

Saturday we threw our own personal BBQ outside the hotel room.. Got to love that George Foreman grill and Mike Armstrong makes a great cheeseburger.. plus being able to eat something other then Peanut Butter & Jelly was wonderful..

We played “Metal Mania” at Tops & Tails in Creve Coeur, Illinois_ .. Always known for sticking out in a crowd.. we really did this show musically.. but it was good to see that we could win over a crowd that is known not to side with the pop / rock genre..

So right now… Paul as usual has his playlist going… im cramped in the back of this truck.. trying to type this up … and tomorrow is our first show in Michigan.. should be a fun one
